The role will involve:
Mechanical design of ground-based optical systems
Assisting requirements gathering for opto-mechanical systems
Responsible for prototyping and testing of mechanical components
Liaising with manufacturers and suppliers
Feeding in to broader system design
Person specification
Essential
Degree in Mechanical engineering, Physics, Optics, or similar
Demonstrated experience with mechanical design for optical systems
Experience with rapid prototyping manufacturing techniques
Strong user of CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks)
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Desirable
PhD in Astronomy/Optics/Physics
Experience with various types of optical systems/components such as telescopes, cameras, lasers, LIDAR, lenses, mirrors is highly desirable
Experienced user of optical design software such as Zemax OpticStudio is desired but not essential
Experience working with institutional customers and academic partners

The role will involve:
Precisely modelling the orbits of satellites and space debris from a range of data sources
Simulation and analysis of time-domain data series
Building robust databases (relational and transactional)
Data fusion and uncertainty modeling (potentially including Gaussian processes)
Robust data analysis pipeline development
Front end development - data visualisation and UI/UX
API tools for scraping, gathering and also for presenting data
Person specification
Essential
Degree in Physics, Maths, Computer Science, Electronic Engineering or similar
Demonstrated experience with astrodynamics, orbit prediction and modeling, visualisation and shared codebase development
Strong user of Python, Git, SQL, relational databases or equivalent alternative technology stacks
Strong background in classical mechanics, astrodynamics, mathematical and computational modeling, optimisation or software engineering
Strong teamwork and communication skills
Desirable
PhD in relevant field
Experience working with institutional customers and academic partners
