Who we are
Lumi Space is transforming Space Situational Awareness (SSA) by developing a network of autonomous laser ranging stations for precise orbit determination. Current satellite tracking methods are so imprecise that 99.9% of radar-based collision warnings are false alerts, with uncertainties in satellite positions reaching hundreds of metres. This leads to unnecessary and costly manoeuvres, sometimes up to $50,000 per action. At Lumi, we aim to eliminate this issue by providing highly accurate orbital data, ensuring that only essential collision avoidance manoeuvres are performed.
Our Product
We offer a complete solution for satellite tracking. By equipping satellites with retroreflectors that reflect incoming laser beams, our ground stations can take precise measurements. We process this data to provide accurate orbital elements to our customers, making the entire process as straightforward as possible.
Our Vision
Space is becoming increasingly congested, with millions of untracked pieces of debris posing risks to satellites and future missions. No current company, institution, or government can precisely track this debris. At Lumi Space, we aim not only to track these objects but also to use earth-based lasers for debris removal through Laser Momentum Transfer. Our ultimate goal is to ensure a safe and sustainable space environment for all humanity.
